It would be helpful if you spelt "wud" like the rest of us.
SS is best left to the necros
Illusion magic is (generally) best left in pvp
Mesmers have 2 main damage dealing skills for pve
-Shatter hex
-Cry of frustration
There is another thread like this one: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3040895 here is the thread addresss {tired sleep now}

Cry of Frustration. Not. For damage. Interrupt stuff. In area.
Illu works in PvE. Conjure + Remorse on multiple targets. Same tactic for domination, hexes on multiple targets. Don't go after 1 because its a waste of potential firepower when your hexes get cut early.
Search on forum, lots of advice about skills there. Mesmer isnt formula like other classes, take skills you like and get a feel for them. Best build advice is in big threads where people discuss the merits of skills.

Please spell properly. Some of us go insane when people don't. Like me.
Well, an Illusion/Curses Mesmer would generally be hex-stackers. Need to go now.

Ok i'll spell better from now on . I think ill try going fully mesmer, and see how that works, put most in illu, and the rest in fast casting and domination magic.
thanks for the advice

It just occured to me that 44xthe 2nd largest aoe in game is a decent amount of damage so my point may still be valid! (after all surge is only 80)
meh screw it; I put all blame on my sleepy drone mind thus creating the illusion of removing all responsibility. (illusion magic rank 51) lol

Cry Of Frustration is not about the damage as Avarre said, its good simply because it interupts everyone in a area. Its an awesome skill (my personal favourite interupt on the mesmer side, I always bring it). I personally don't like illusion to much, as I think that it is to much based on DOT spells. Domination has the greatest selection of spells as it includes Backfire, Empathy and Shatter Hex which are all awesome in both pve and pvp. Domination has a much large selection of spells and greater spells in general, so I would go for Domination.

Backfire and Empathy aren't awesome in PvP.
I'm nitpicking again.

Heh, backfire is a win/win situation. They will either take higher amounts of damage or be shutdown for 10seconds. You can team it up with MOR and annoy people to no end. I seriously don't think it isn't awesome in PvP.
As for empathy, it just rocks

Hex removal/CoP ftw. Or ftl, it annoys me to no end too.
What do you mean, it just rocks?

Curses and Domination magic can smack anyone who chooses to fight you with magic/non-signet/attacking skills.
SS+Empathy+Incidious Parasite+Enfeeblement = a healthy caster and a dead attacker.
SS does damage to target foe and adjacent foes. Empathy does damage to those who attack (non-casting/non-signet users). Incidious Parasite gives caster health (hex spell) each time target foe attacks (non-casting/non-signet). Enfeeblement reduces attacks (not skills) by 66% I think.
Parasitic Bond - used as a cover hex (protect other hexes that are cast from removal); health degeneration hex of 1; heals caster once the spell ends or is removed
Cry of Frustration - any skill or attack or spell used by target foe is interupted and that foe and adjacent foes are interupted and take damage.
Worstel's Worry - if the target foe does not use a skill/signet/spell within 3 seconds, that foe takes damage. (Stances and such are included in skills)
If you want to use Illusion, it is better to use Blood magic with it. Blood magic helps a lot with health degeneration, and is one of the best ways for you to get health back.
Hope this helps.

Empathy is going to be a big problem vs that evisricate/penetrating attack/executioner's....yea going to stop that spike dead.
Backfire with 16 domination=backfire with 1 domination for pvp's concern...

empathy + sig of midnight + price/spirit of failure in PvP = the meat or angry stick can smack you as long as they want while you use the remainder of your skill back (backfire, diversion, CoF whatever else) on their casters...
it helps to have REALLY high fast casting however..

I forgot SS' best friend - Reckless Haste.
Increases the attack speed of enemy but causes a chance to miss 15%-43% of the time. This combined with Shoitaan's idea - Price of Failure, Spirit of Failure. As each hex is mutualy exclusive - each chance is determined on their own, not cumulative - you have 3 chances that the attack will not hit you and something(s) will occur instead. You can do damage or gain energy or the foe just misses or all three occur (or any combination of the three).
Signet of Midnight + Epidemic is great vs mobs.
If you want more fun, fragility + price/spirit of failure + empathy + backfire + enfeeble + incidious parasite+parastic bond vs 1 target.

i dont agree with that. i run mesmer/necro and often take SS. with high fastcasting and arcane echo you can have 4 instances of spiteful spirit on four different foes at the same time. i know it's only 29 dmg per swing....but the math adds up to shitload.

Enfeeblement sounds counterproductive.
